You can use WebP for lossless compression the same way as PNG. Most of the time WebP is a good replacement for PNG and JPEG. We don't always need to have high quality images that eyes cannot distinguish. Uncompressed image files often consume more memory as well. Android platform has built in support for this image format for the reason.
